In partnership with Intelligence Squared (IQ2), a public debate, entitled ‘Paths to Peace in the Middle East: Six Proposals on How to Resolve the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict' was held on 16th September at Westminster Central Hall. Addressing an audience of 2000, speakers included Dr Hanan Ashrawi, Palestinian Legislative Council Member; Mustafa Barghouti, Palestinian democracy activist who represents the Independent Palestine list on the Palestinian Legislative Council; Yael Dayan, Deputy Mayor of Tel Aviv, Peace Now Activist; Efraim Halevy, Former Director of Mossad and the Israeli National Security Council; Sir Malcolm Rifkind MP, Former Secretary of State for Defence and former Foreign Secretary and UN Ambassador for Israel, Dan Gillerman. Chairing the debate was Richard Lindley, a former ITN journalist.
